Faculty Concert: Molly Miller Trio & Rich Hinman vs. Adam Levy

THU, FEB 15 | 8pm-10pm | THE GARAGE

Open to the public with RSVP

Rich Hinman vs. Adam Levy:
Individually, the members of this instrumental quartet have played with k.d. lang, Vulfpeck, Sara Bareilles, Ray LaMontagne, Norah Jones, Amos Lee, Rosanne Cash, Jackson Browne, Sam Phillips, Over the Rhine, Elvis Costello, and dozens more venerable artists. As a collective unit, Rich Hinman vs. Adam Levy has only been playing together for a short time but you’d never guess that from their deep grooves and telepathic interplay. They play soul music without words, country music without hats, and blues music without regrets.

Molly Miller Trio:
Molly Miller Trio (Molly Miller, Jennifer Condos, and Jay Bellerose) captivate audiences with their sophisticated and raw style. Their joyful, groove-based instrumentals bring a wealth of musical talent to reimagine popular songs spanning genres and eras. Their debut album, The Shabby Road Recordings, released July 2017, was recently featured on NPR’s Fresh Air.

Jack Stratton is the mastermind and bandleader behind Vulfpeck, an American funk group founded in 2011. Stratton, who graduated from the Performing Arts and Technology (PAT) program at University of Michigan, composes and mixes the majority of Vulfpeck’s records. Influenced by rhythm sections of the past, the band has released four EPs, three albums, and a silent album on Spotify titled Sleepify – royalties from which funded the band's admission-free tour in 2014. The band's latest album, Mr. Finish Line, was released in November 2017. Last year they played two sold-out shows at Brooklyn Bowl and appeared on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.
