Summer Xperience is a 3 Week Program with focuses in Music Performance, Songwriting, Music Production, Composing for Visual Media and Music Entrepreneurship. The Xperience is offered to all skill levels and includes master classes, private lessons, recitals and large ensembles taught by LACM faculty and top music industry members.

JUNE 22 – JUNE 26
Music Performance & Music Production
  1. Experience professional studio recording. Record and perform cover songs and originals!
  2. Intensive training in performance technique, including instrument specific lessons.
  3. Attend panels, seminars & private lessons on student’s designated primary instrument.
  4. Work in LACM’s state of the art studio and learn the basics of music production.
  5. Interact with professional engineers, producers and artists while developing your own demo.
  6. Final Performance at the end of the week.
JUNE 29 – JULY 3
Songwriting & Advanced Production
  1. Learn the facets of music publishing, music licensing and placement.
  2. Immerse yourself in the craft of songwriting and develop your composition skills.
  3. Introduction and training to Ableton Live and Pro Tools techniques.
  4. Master the art of co-writing and co-producing with experienced Faculty while producing original songs.
  5. Final Performance at the end of the week.
JULY 6 – JULY 10
Composing for Visual Media & Music Entrepreneurship
  1. Learn about the Music Industry, how it works and how to succeed in it as a professional.
  2. Explore composers in film, television, video games and new media.
  3. Develop an understanding of launching a new artist, and other music label experience.
  4. Learn the techniques of tracking film and other media.
  5. Learn the fundamentals of A&R, publishing, licensing, music supervision, tour strategies, marketing, accounting, and more!

  1. A video of you performing on your primary instrument (drum, guitar, vocal, piano, bass, etc.) Submit one (1) song of your choice (2 minute max)


  1. Submit one (1) audio track that you have recorded, as producer/engineer (you may be the artist, also). Tracks must be a maximum of 2:00 min in length.
  2. An optional written explanation of your involvement with the track, the tools used, and the challenges you faced is encouraged. (150 words max)

The audio/video component of the application is required. The Summer Xperience application will need to be complete in order to process.

Step 3: Submit Your Application

After you submit your app, you can expect the review process to take 3-4 weeks. Scholarship information is typically sent out 1-2 weeks after an admissions decision.

After acceptance, all students will receive detailed information about transportation, housing, and program scheduling 30 days before the start of the program.

Summer Xperience arranged housing includes a hotel room, an onsite nurse, resident advisers, hotel security personnel and 3 meals a day. Roommate selection upon request – not guaranteed. Double Rooms & Single Rooms available.

*Breakfast will be provided at The Hilton. Lunch & Dinner will be provided at The LACM Café. Daily LACM Shuttle Transportation to and from campus is also provided. 

After acceptance, all students will receive detailed information about transportation, housing, and program schedule 30 days before the start of the program.

LAX Transportation

Campers can purchase an airport shuttle to and from LAX International Airport. LACM only offers a round trip shuttle. LACM will transport students to LAX on the Sunday before & Saturday after the program. LACM charge is $80.

Pick up: 2pm at LAX, Sunday | Departs Hotel: 10am, Saturday

It is recommended that flights arrive no later than 1pm on Sunday for the shuttle pickup at 2pm. For departures on Saturday, flights should be departing after 1pm. LACM is not responsible for shuttle rides or flights that are missed if these recommendations are not followed. Student will be required to make alternate travel arrangements if conflicts arise. This service is curb pickup and drop off only. Students will be solely responsible for navigating the airport, though LACM staff will assist where possible.
