Bio

Diego Ruvalcaba is a drummer and percussionist based in Los Angeles who brings a deep sense of groove and creativity to the music. He is constantly on the search for new music and enjoys playing a diverse array of styles such as Jazz, Latin, Funk, Fusion, Pop, and Rock. His passion for music and his craft is shown in his great feel and rock solid support of the music and his warmhearted personality.Diego grew up in Toluca, State of Mexico where he picked up the drums at the age of fifteen. After a short period of exploring the drums as an autodidact, he was accepted at the Jazz program of the prestigious Conservatory of Music of the State of Mexico (COMEM) and studied with the great Pedro Galindo. Right after graduating with honors in the four year program, he was offered a position as a drum teacher. While teaching, he further studied composition at the Fermatta Music Academy in Mexico City and played music in various projects. In his pursuit of further growth, he moved to Los Angeles in 2012 to study at the renowned Los Angeles College of Music in Pasadena, California under Ralph Humphrey, Aaron Serfaty, Matt Starr, Tony Inzalaco, Joe Porcaro, and more with private lessons from Peter Erskine, Alex Gomez and Steve Hass.Diego has tremendous experience in live, studio, and TV situations. Throughout his career he has toured and recorded extensively in North America with artists such as Luis Mora, Hector Jardon and more. Diego has recently worked with producer, John Avila, in his studio. John is best known for his work with the likes of Steve Vai, Stewart Copeland, Reel Big Fish, and more. He has also worked with Dorian Holley (This Is It), who is well known for being Michael Jackson’s music director.
