Bio

Marcelo Bucater is a drummer and percussionist based in Los Angeles who brings a deep sense of groove and creativity to the music. He is constantly on the search for new music and enjoys playing a diverse array of styles such as Jazz, Latin, Funk, Fusion, Pop, and Rock. His passion for music and his craft is shown in his great feel and rock solid support of the music and his warmhearted personality.Born in São Paulo, Brazil, 24 year-old Marcelo grew up in São José do Rio Preto and started playing drums at age of twelve with a private instructor until he moved to São Paulo in 2008 to start his Bachelor in Music at the renown FAAM (Faculdade de Artes Alcântara Machado) where he studied with Alexandre Damasceno and the great Edu Ribeiro(winner of the Best Jazz Latin album at the 56th Grammy Awards), graduating with honors in the four year program. During this four years Marcelo record two albums with his rock band, Reversonica with which made a tour of three months by Brazil and more then 100 shows in two years. Besides that Marcelo worked as a free-lancer player doing more then 400 shows for different artists and bands and working as a session drummer for the studio C4 in São Paulo playing in more then fifteen albuns in different styles of music as: pop, rock, funk, samba, country.In his pursuit of further growth, he moved to Los Angeles in 2013 to study at the renown LACM (Los Angeles College of Music, formerly LAMA) in Pasadena, California where he learned from great musicians such as Ralph Humphrey (Frank Zappa, Dancing with the Stars), Joe Porcaro (Frank Sinatra, Toto, Madonna), Tony Inzalaco (Oscar Peterson, Maynard Ferguson , Buddy Rich) and Richie Garcia (Sting, Phil Collins) and more with private lessons from Jeff Hamilton, Aaron Serfaty.Living in Los Angeles and working as a professional drummer and musician Marcelo has worked and/or performed with Little Brazil, Natália Spadini, Martini Five-0, Brad Rabuchin, Mitchell Long, Carlos Ancelmo and recently worked with the producer, John Avila, in his studio. John is best known for his work with the likes of Steve Vai, Stewart Copeland, Reel Big Fish, and more.
