Hello LACM Community,

Tomorrow, June 2, we will be observing “Black Out Tuesday” in solidarity with the music industry’s stand against racial and social injustice, discrimination, and bias-motivated violence.  We are a diverse community and we will support our students, alumni, faculty and staff, by ceasing all business operations for the entire day.  In addition, LACM is actively planning to create additional resources to assist any member of our community who might need support during this difficult time, as well as to create an expanded Diversity and Inclusion program on campus.

Classes will not be held tomorrow, and all services and operations will be paused for the entire day.

For any questions regarding academics, please contact Daniel Walker at daniel@lacm.edu.  For additional support and resources during this time, please contact studentsupport@lacm.edu.  And for any general questions or concerns, please contact Erin Workman at erin@lacm.edu.

Observing this day is not the only step LACM will be taking. We will use this time to reflect as a community on what additional efforts we can make to collectively take action for real change to happen. We acknowledge that there is work to be done and we will be taking definitive steps to reflect the changes we hope to see both within the LACM community and globally. This is a time for each of us individually to reflect on what we can do to actively combat racial injustice and our efforts to take action and motivate change must continue far beyond this moment.  Thank you for standing with us and participating in this important day.

Best Regards,
Tom Aylesbury
LACM President
