Tim’s training began in Newark, Ohio at the age of five. His early influences included everything from Folk, Jazz, R&B, and pop, to the great Ohio State Marching Band. After a move to Southern Oregon, he continued studies in drum set, classical, and marching percussion eventually winning several awards including two consecutive state solo contests. Tim then attended the University of Oregon (BM) studying percussion and drum set with Professor Charles Dowd, was section leader of the Oregon Marching Band Drumline, and a member of the Green Garter Band.

He continued post graduate studies at the University of Southern California (MM) with Professor Eric Forrester and Ndugu Chancellor. Tim went on to perform for audiences throughout the world as percussionist with grammy nominated artist Josh Groban. He has also performed and/or recorded with Herbie Hancock, Elton John, David Foster, Chris Botti, Angelique Kidjo, Ashley Maher, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Andre Manga, Gary Novak, Bakithi Kumalo, Lucia Micarelli, John Williams, Joshua Bell, Angie Stone, and Bela Fleck. Tim performs on four Josh Groban DVD concert recordings including “An Evening in New York”, “Awake”, “Live at the Greek”, and “Josh Groban Live in Concert”.

Film and television recordings include “NCIS”, “JAG”, “The Prize Winner of Defiance Ohio” (Dreamworks), “Andy Richter Controls the Universe” (Fox), and “Lucky” (FX). Television appearances include PBS “Soundstage”, Sundance Channel “Live from Abbey Road”, Good Morning America, The American Music Awards, The Tonight Show, Conan O’ Brian, and Ellen. Tim is on faculty at the Los Angeles College of Music teaching drum set and percussion. He is currently touring with the band “Incendio” in support of their new CD “The Shape of Dreams” performing concerts throughout the U.S. Tim plays Taye Drums, Zildjian Cymbals, L.P. Percussion, Yamaha timpani, Roland V-Drums, REMO Drumheads, and Vic Firth sticks and mallets.
