Complete the Online Orientation Course by July 21

All incoming students must complete the Online Orientation Course by July 21, 2021. Invitations to this virtual course hosted on “Canvas” can be found in your student email inbox. The Online Orientation Course modules contain information about online systems and policies that are integral to your learning experience at the Los Angeles College of Music including but not limited to the following:

  • FORMS include student surveys and important information about reopening, campus access, photo/video release, liability, booking advising appointments, and Student ID cards
  • FERPA, or The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, as amended (also sometimes referred to as the Buckley Amendment), is a federal law regarding the privacy of student records and the obligations of the institution, primarily in the areas of release of records and the access provided to these records. This brief module of the orientation will inform you of your rights as stated under this act.
  • CATALOG HIGHLIGHTS serve as a quick reminder about some of the important topics covered in the catalog.
  • POPULI is a web-based college management system you’ll be using constantly throughout your program with LACM. It is a powerful tool to help you with your assignments, faculty communication, grades, academic planning, etc. The more familiar you are with this program, the better your experience will be during your time here.
  • HOW TO DOWNLOAD YOUR QUARTERLY BILLING STATEMENT AND MAKE A PAYMENT will help you through the process.

The online orientation should take about 2 hours to complete. You’re welcome to revisit it at any time, but the entire course, including the 5 module quizzes must be completed by July 21, 2021. If you still have requirements to submit past the due date, please submit all remaining requirements immediately.
